The valley's rhythm
Summer is lake season and the busiest stretch, with festivals, farmers' markets and events in Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork and around Flathead Lake. Fall quietens down as the larch turn. Winter belongs to ski weekends and the holidays.
Event dates change every year. Check the official town and venue calendars for the season you are planning, then bring firm dates to the booking page.
Booking around the busy weeks
Independence Day, peak Glacier season and the winter holidays are the hardest weeks to book and the ones with the longest minimum stays. Shoulder weeks in June and September give you most of the same valley with far less traffic.
Glacier National Park has used vehicle reservation or timed-entry systems on some corridors in recent seasons. Check the park's official page while you plan, not on the morning you drive.
